Oh after the fall, grows the crescent shaped door
Heed the warnings of old, none shall rise round the one
So deeply dark the hole, oh now where does it go
Hear the whispers of all, become so enthralled
Spirits I call
Oh carry me on
To the lands of the lost
Feel no heat or no cold
In these visions foretold
Now fire take hold
With its beckoning call, I'm drawn to the core
Unexplainable lull, can't shake it no more
I must know what it holds, this ancient world
Oh the shores I'll explore, I'll dread no more
All bearings are gone, where is here, where is now?
Astral visions gone wrong, where have I fallen from?
Time grips my soul, as I'm thrown through the void
Feel its foreboding call, feel the loss of control
I am no longer whole, as darkness takes toll, tearing into my soul
Is this bliss, is this hell, perjury or spells?
Is this bliss, is this hell, should I sleep or rebel?
This is bliss, this is hell, trickery or spells?
This is bliss, this is hell, in solitary I dwell
Seal the light to embrace what they've sown
Eyes of the one, I’ve seen unwritten tomes
Chasms of earth split with thunderous force
Punishment brought with unruly recourse
Never to rise and always to fall
Echoing screams now herald the new dawn
The black swan cries the future's forgone
Buried in time to repeat and live on
Never to learn are we doomed to repeat
The shackles of time are now chained to your fate
Beauty of land kept in tune with the tree
Exploited by men so voraciously
Leave it alone said the voice in my mind
As shadows fall and turn day into night
Gone are the days that we lived with crow
Carving our stones, oh we reap what we sow
For greed or for lust, oh we take over all
Deafened to sounds of the wood as it calls
Roots as the bones of the earth they now sprawl
Carving headstones for your funeral

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka

If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse
The latest Djunah LP channels the duo's heavy, intensely cathartic sound to reflect on living with and healing from trauma. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 14, 2023

Allow me to copy Pagan Altar's third album title to describe not only III:Pentecost but the whole discography of Wytch Hazel so far: well, yes, it's Magical and Mythical!!! A must-have for the lovers of 70's hard sound revival. BoneWalker
